Everybody knows very well Mozart's Haffner Symphony! But perhaps not everybody knows that Mozart and Kraus met in Vienna in 1781, during the Grand Tour that Kraus undertook throughout Europe. In these years, he wrote the dramatic c minor Symphony, whose score came to Mozart's hands for a while. A few months later, Mozart wrote the Haffner Symphony, whose first movement's second theme replied thematic patterns from the first movement of Kraus c minor Symphony, a unique use in all of Mozart works. Geniuses meet and recognize their mutual value. Years later, Haydn wrote about Kraus c minor Symphony: "The symphony he wrote here in Vienna especially for me will be regarded as a masterpiece for centuries to come; believe me, there are few people who can compose something like that".

"The first genius I ever met". These words were written by Haydn in a letter to the Swedish ambassador Silverstolpe reporting the meeting he had with the German composer Joseph Martin Kraus. It was 1781 and on that occasion, Kraus spent quite a long time between Vienna and Estheraza, where he also conducted several works by Haydn. Kraus' Symphony VB 138 "Violino Obbligato" is one of the best examples of sinfonia concertante of the XVIII century, performed by the young soloists of Theresia.

Mozart's Jupiter Symphony is one of the most famous orchestral works of the XVIII century. But what do you know about the roots of this masterpiece? You will be very surprised listening to the Finale of Michael Haydn's Symphony n. 28, which includes all four themes (!) of the Finale of the Jupiter, written four years later in 1788, and gorgeously elaborated. A true surprise, worth the discovery. The beautiful Symphony n. 36 in C major "Linz" is instead considered Mozart's "general rehearsal" for the Jupiter and is the first large-scale orchestral work of the late period of Mozart life. With this program Theresia proposes a new, original way of looking around a major Viennese masterpiece - the Jupiter Symphony - that so much

influence had on the young Beethoven.
